Taking Care of Business
(At church on Sunday morning)
Each of you came here today to take care of business. In fact, some come to church every Sunday
Whose business is it? That's yo' business.
You come to the house of God to give praise and worship.
Whose business is it? That's God's business.
You usher, or sing or maybe just sit pretty on the pew.
Whose business is it? That's yo' business.
You welcome and witness to the lost, and share the love, joy, and peace in this holy place. You encourage the hurting. That's God's business.
You clap your hands to the music. The beat is good you know!! You don't care what the one next to you thinks. Why should you? That's yo' business, not theirs.
But you clap your hands as an expression of praise from your total being, as a sign of the Spirit moving. That's God's business.
Now, whose business is it that you read the Word, know the Word, say the Word? Nobody's but yours. God's business is living the Word, sharing the Word, teaching the Word, obeying the Word, keeping the Father's Word in your heart.
You go through the day looking right, sounding right, acting right. You got it. That's yo' business. Looking to things above, living right, letting that light shine. That's God's business.
You are good at praying long, praying so sweet, praying because you should. That's yo' business. You need to pray to give praise because God is worthy; to give thanks because He is the reason for your existence. Pray to seek His divine will.
You pay your tithe every payday. Careful, that may be your business. You freely give back to the Lord what is already His and give to those He loves even more. You help the sick, feed the hungry, love your neighbor. That's God's business.
Colossians 3:23 says, "and whatever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men." You came here this morning to take care of business. But whose? Yours or God's?
Be a blessing and be blessed.
